Looking after your mental health

Mental health is a huge factor which can impact on our daily lives. It is extremely important as it can take a toll on how we think, feel, act and cope with life.   We would never dream of neglecting our physical health and wellbeing so why shouldn’t we take the same approach to our mental health?

It’s ok not to be ok
Having good mental health means feeling positive about yourself and being able to cope with everyday pressures.   One in four people in Northern Ireland will experience problems that affect their mental health and it’s important to know that it’s ok not be ok.   Help and support is available and sometimes just talking to someone can really help.

Healthy body, healthy mind
Gymnastics isn’t just a sport which is beneficial to your physical health.  As mental health champion at LX, I am passionate about the benefits participating in sport can have on our mental wellbeing.   Participation in sports causes the body to release endorphins, known as the happy chemicals leading to less stress, pain, and more positivity!    Taking part in sports can also improve our mood, sleep, and self-esteem. Although the list is endless!   And it’s not just for the kids – don’t forget we have our adult classes at LX too!

  2. Be active
